WhatsApp is the most used instant messaging application in the world. Launched with the proposal to facilitate communication between people and eliminate the barriers of distance between them through technology and the internet. However, there are times when we just don’t want to be detected when we view a message without being reported by the app.
But being invisible on WhatsApp is not so simple. The app has several features that not only show that the user is currently online (or when was the last time they were online); but also that they have already viewed certain messages, videos, or audios received; in addition to marking the moment when the user is writing a new message.
Despite the difficulties that the app poses, it is possible to reduce the traces, not appear online on WhatsApp and be able to send and receive messages normally. Check out how to do this:
Start by Removing the Last Seen
But important to remember: when you remove the last seen from your account, you will also not be able to see the corresponding information from your contacts!
- On the Whatsapp home screen, click on the menu icon, represented by three dots, which are at the top right of the screen. Select the Settings option.
- On the Settings tab, click Account and then Privacy.
- Select Last Seen and choose how you prefer to be seen.
Remove The Read Receipt
In 2015, a WhatsApp update introduced the message read receipt, the famous two checks that turn blue when the user has viewed the sent message. This feature became known as a kind of snitch, especially for people who leave their friends to reply later, even after reading the message. Many people don’t know that it is possible to remove the preview message. To do this, just do the following:
Still, in the Privacy section, uncheck the Read Receipts option. To do this, just click on the option.
With this, you will be able to confirm that the two checks no longer turn blue when you view the messages exchanged with your contacts.
But it is worth mentioning that this feature does not work for messages exchanged in groups. Even disabled, your messages will still receive the blue check when you view them.
What can be done in these cases is to view the message offline. In other words, off the internet. To do this, turn off your Mobile Data or WIFI (whichever you are using) or simply click Airplane Mode on your phone. View the message normally and only after closing the WhatsApp app, reconnect your internet.
Remove Online Status
Once you remove the last tick and the read or view receipt, you will have cleared most of the traces of your WhatsApp activity. However, there is still one feature of the app that can report your activity: Online status.
Automatic, it appears every time you access the app and disappears every time you exit it. Unfortunately, it is not a feature that can be removed in WhatsApp settings like the previous two. But some apps can be downloaded and acted to hide the user’s online status when WhatsApp is opened on the device.
